    Indecom Confirms 12 Fatalities From Security Force Shootings in First Week of 2026

    The Unbiased Fee of Investigations (Indecom) has confirmed that 12 individuals had been fatally shot by safety forces throughout six incidents on January 1 and 5.

    4 deaths occurred on January 5, together with a triple taking pictures in St. Toolies, Manchester, and one other fatality in Clarendon. On January 1, eight individuals died in a number of incidents, together with two triple shootings in St. James and Westmoreland, with three victims beneath 18.

    Deputy Commissioner Yanique Taylor-Wellington expressed concern over the rising pattern, noting a 65% enhance in deadly police shootings in 2025 and a 300% rise within the first 5 days of 2026.
