    ICE Deports Jamaican Man After Serving Sentence for Bronx Killing

    A Jamaican man convicted in reference to a 2009 homicide within the Bronx has been deported to Jamaica following the completion of his jail sentence in the USA.

    U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed that Kemar Hamilton, a Jamaican nationwide, was faraway from the USA on January 8. Hamilton had been convicted in 2012 for the deadly capturing of 58-year-old Edgar McCalla throughout a theft outdoors McCalla’s Bronx dwelling on February 19, 2009.

    Authorities reported that the case remained unresolved for a number of years earlier than investigators linked Hamilton to the crime via DNA proof recovered from a pay as you go cellphone left on the scene.

    In keeping with ICE, Hamilton entered the USA illegally in 2008 and was later ordered eliminated by an immigration decide in December 2009. Nevertheless, the deportation order was not executed at the moment because of the pending legal proceedings and subsequent incarceration.

    Officers said that Hamilton was taken into ICE custody in October 2025 upon his launch from a New York correctional facility. He remained detained till his removing to Jamaica earlier this 12 months.

    ICE reiterated that the removing aligns with its enforcement priorities focusing on non-citizens convicted of significant legal offenses.
