An injured hiker was rescued by helicopter Wednesday from Cowles Mountain, a preferred climbing vacation spot in Mission Trails Regional Park, in keeping with authorities.

San Diego Fire-Rescue personnel responded to the trailhead at Golfcrest Drive and Navajo Street in San Carlos at about 10:40 a.m. Wednesday.

Firefighters hiked nearly to the summit of San Diego’s highest mountain peak earlier than reaching the hiker who had suffered an ankle damage, officers mentioned.

Quickly, greater than 20 personnel responded to the rescue, together with the helicopter and models from the La Mesa, El Cajon and Santee hearth departments.

The unidentified hiker was airlifted to a touchdown zone on the Santee aspect of the mountain, the place an ambulance was standing by, in keeping with hearth officers.

First responders cleared the scene shortly after midday Wednesday.
