    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – Kiah Duggins, a distinguished civil rights lawyer and the daughter of a St. Kitts-born doctor, was tragically killed in a devastating air collision close to Reagan Nationwide Airport on January 30, 2025.

    The collision between an American Airways regional jet and a U.S. Military Black Hawk helicopter resulted in each plane crashing into the Potomac River, leaving no survivors among the many 64 passengers and crew.

    Duggins, a 29-year-old Harvard Legislation graduate and former Fulbright scholar, was a rising star within the discipline of civil rights. She devoted her profession to combating towards unconstitutional policing practices, cash bail techniques, and advocating for jail abolition. Her work impacted communities throughout america, together with Tennessee, Texas, and Washington, D.C.

    Born in Wichita, Kansas, Duggins was the daughter of Dr. Maurice Duggins, a revered household doctor initially from St. Kitts.

    The information of her premature loss of life has despatched shockwaves by means of the authorized neighborhood and past. Duggins can be deeply missed by her household, colleagues, and the numerous people whose lives she touched by means of her tireless pursuit of justice.
