    Guyana Signs Major Offshore Oil Deal With QatarEnergy, TotalEnergies and PETRONAS

    Information Americas, GEORGETOWN, Guyana, Weds. Nov. 12, 2025: The Authorities of Guyana has inked a brand new Manufacturing Sharing Settlement (PSA) for shallow-water Block S4 offshore Guyana with a consortium led by world vitality giants QatarEnergy, TotalEnergies, and PETRONAS.

    The deal, signed by the Ministry of Pure Assets, marks one other milestone in Guyana’s rising oil and gasoline trade. Underneath the settlement, TotalEnergies will function the operator with a 40% stake, whereas QatarEnergy and PETRONAS will maintain 35% and 25% respectively.

    Minister of Natural Resources, Vickram Bharrat, hailed the signing as a sign of Guyana’s world attraction. “We’re happy to welcome QatarEnergy, TotalEnergies and PETRONAS as new companions in Guyana’s petroleum sector,” Bharrat mentioned. “This funding demonstrates continued worldwide confidence in Guyana’s clear and sturdy licensing framework, and it displays our authorities’s dedication to making sure that the event of our pure assets is finished sustainably and for the good thing about all Guyanese.”

    Block S4 covers roughly 1,788 sq. kilometers, positioned between 50 and 100 kilometers off Guyana’s coast, in water depths starting from 30 to 100 meters. The Ministry mentioned exploration will adhere to each nationwide regulatory requirements and worldwide greatest practices for environmental safety.

    TotalEnergies’ Vice President of Exploration for the Americas, Daniel Larrañaga, expressed eagerness to start operations, saying:

    “We wish to go quick. We wish to discover this basin as quickly as we will.”

    The Ministry of Pure Assets reaffirmed the federal government’s dedication to environmental stewardship, transparency, and maximizing native participation in all petroleum actions.
