    Government intensifies efforts to reduce murders despite 52% reduction so far this year

    The federal government is intensifying efforts to scale back murders regardless of a 52 p.c discount thus far this 12 months.

    State minister within the Workplace of the Prime Minister, Senator Abka Fitz-Henley says the holness administration is not going to enable complacency to creep in.

    The newest figures from the Jamaica Constabulary Pressure present there was a 52 p.c discount in murders this 12 months in comparison with final 12 months.

    As of January 22, 25 Jamaicans have been murdered in contrast with 52 for the same interval final 12 months.

    Shootings are down by 37-percent.

    Senator Fitz-Henley says the federal government is hopeful that the successes of the safety forces will lead to elevated compliance and fewer cases the place the police are challenged and use lethal drive.

    He states that the prime minister has been clear that the federal government expects the police to respect the rule of regulation in interacting with Jamaicans.

    Senator Fitz-Henley says two items of draft laws that are earlier than the parliament are aimed toward enhancing the justice system and delivering higher leads to crime combating.
