Crews on Friday halted the unfold of a brush fireplace that broke out over distant high-desert terrain the day earlier than, blackening dozens of open acres.
The blaze erupted for unknown causes close to the intersection of San Felipe Street and state route 78, east of Julian, based on Cal Fireplace.
Crews had the burn zone 100% surrounded as of early Friday afternoon, the state company mentioned.
As of 6:25 a.m., the burn space was estimated at about 50 acres and had not grown in measurement since Thursday.
Cal Fire officers mentioned they’re making progress and can proceed to deal with extinguishing hotspots and growing containment.
The reason for the blaze was beneath investigation.
