    Exceptional Mothers Honoured by Kitson Town Civic Committee – Jamaica Information Service

    Six distinctive moms from Kitson City in St. Catherine have been honoured for his or her contributions to the neighborhood by the Kitson City Civic Committee (KTCC).

    The ladies obtained the inaugural Miss Govie Motherhood Awards at a ceremony, held on the Guanaboa Vale Main College on Sunday (Might 18).

    The occasion was held beneath the theme ‘Have a good time and Honour Moms for his or her Love, Dedication, and Sacrifices’.

    Recipients of the awards had been Neka Johnson, Athlene Melisa Brown, June Gilbert, Sharon Morris, Clover Brown and Marjorie Ann-Marie Miller Jones.

    Mrs. Miller Jones obtained a further award after being named the ‘Mom of the 12 months’.

    Founder and Chairman of the KTCC and JIS Journalist, Garfield Angus, who conceptualised the award, famous that it was named in honour of Miss Govie, a neighborhood mom who raised him and a number of other youngsters up till the time of her passing in 1982.

    “Miss Govie was Godly and an ideal lady of affection and care for youngsters, particularly youngsters who wanted motherly safety,” he shared.

    The JIS Journalist famous that he and a number of other different youngsters in want had been rescued by Miss Govie and nurtured by her.

    “She didn’t have a lot however the little that she possessed was by no means too skinny to make sure that we attended college and church. Her stern tenacity pressured us to not envy however to dwell with the modest issues that we had, as a result of she believed that someday God would bless us in a method that we’d have greater than we might ever endeavour,” Mr. Angus mentioned.

    He emphasised that the Miss Govie Awards are supposed to present appreciation for the moms who double as neighborhood heroes, persistently shouldering the burden of childcare and moulding a few of Jamaica’s finest residents.

    In remarks on behalf of all of the recipients, Mrs. Miller Jones mentioned every of the recipients represents a singular story of motherhood stuffed with energy, sacrifice, religion, love, and resilience.

    She thanked the KTCC for making a platform that uplifts and honours moms and for recognising the on a regular basis heroes in the neighborhood.

    “This award isn’t just for me. It’s for each lady who has ever put her youngsters, organic or non-biological first, who has stayed the course even when the street was laborious, and who continues to offer her finest day after day,” Mrs. Miller Jones emphasised.
