    Driver cited after fiery semi crash closes I-70 in Aurora

    One individual was cited for careless driving after a fiery crash between two semitrucks closed Interstate 70 in Aurora for a number of hours Friday morning.

    The crash occurred on eastbound I-70 simply west of E-470 at 8:26 a.m. when the driving force of a 2020 Volvo semi rear-ended a 2026 Peterbilt semi earlier than crashing into the median, in accordance with the Colorado State Patrol.

    The Volve tipped onto its aspect, spilled plastic cargo into westbound lanes and caught hearth.

    Flames absolutely engulfed the Volvo, and the hearth shut down each instructions of I-70 as emergency crews labored to douse the flames and clear up spilled diesel.

    Hearth crews contained the hearth by 9:25 a.m., and most lanes have been reopened by midday, the state patrol stated.

    Neither driver reported any accidents, and the Volvo driver was cited for careless driving.

    Preliminary studies that the crash concerned three semis have been later revised.
