The corrected street signal for Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce Drive in Waterhouse, St Andrew was formally put in this morning, Monday, Might 26, 2025.

This follows the unlucky error throughout Sunday’s unveiling ceremony during which the athlete’s title was misspelt on the displayed signal, stated the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Company (KSAMC).

The KSMAC has apologised for the error, notably given the importance of the event and the excellent legacy of the five-time world champion.

“We lengthen our heartfelt apologies to Shelly-Ann, her household, and the broader Jamaican public. The KSAMC stays dedicated to upholding the best requirements in honouring our nationwide icons, and steps have already been taken to strengthen inside processes to stop such errors sooner or later,” the KSAMC stated on Monday.

Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce Drive now stands corrected — not solely in signage, however in our shared dedication to celebrating excellence, accuracy, and respect, the KSMAC stated.

Councillor Clarke hailed the star athlete as a superb function mannequin and instance of hope and positivity.

She has significantly impacted the lives of many younger athletes by means of her Pocket Rocket Basis, offering help by means of scholarships and grants.

Councillor Clarke stated that Fraser-Pryce is “greater than deserving of this honour”, noting that it’ll function an inspiration for future generations.
