    Cops bag 3,900 rounds of ammo, exotic animals, cigarettes in Westmoreland – Jamaica Inquirer

    The Jamaica Constabulary Power (JCF) has once more delivered a blow to the operations of criminals with the seizure of greater than 3,900 rounds of ammunition, 19 unique animals, and unlawful cigarettes alongside the shores of Whitehouse, Westmoreland on Monday.

    The seizure was made throughout an intelligence-driven operation by the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Department (C-TOC) alongside the Camp Hope and San San seashores in Westmoreland.

    Experiences are that about 5am, investigators from C-TOC’s Particular Operations Unit went to the situation. Two males have been noticed eradicating gadgets from the shoreline and on the strategy of the police, they fled, abandoning two knitted baggage containing greater than 3,900 rounds of ammunition, two makeshift cages containing 10 stay and 9 useless unique parrots, together with two squirrels.

    A number of different gadgets have been seized, together with instruments and greater than 20 packs of illegally imported cigarettes.

    The Nationwide Setting and Planning Company (NEPA) was instantly contacted, and the animals have been taken into their care.

    Superintendent of Police Victor Barrett lauded the efforts of the police, noting that the unlawful importation of unique animals can pose a big threat to the native atmosphere.

    “The unlawful commerce of unique animals is a transparent and current hazard to our public security, nationwide safety and environmental well-being. The JCF is conscious of the menace posed by this commerce and are pursuing those that are engaged within the act,” mentioned Barrett.
