Kingston, Jamaica (McKoy’s Information) – Convicted arms supplier and alleged gang member Derron Simms was sentenced to life imprisonment on Wednesday within the Kingston Gun Courtroom for trafficking and stockpiling prohibited weapons and ammunition.

Simms, who police say is a member of the infamous Rat Bat Gang, was apprehended on Might 25, 2025, throughout a focused operation performed by detectives connected to the Portmore Police.

Studies are that Simms was taken into custody within the KFC Braeton automotive park in Portmore, the place he was allegedly present in possession of a number of high-powered firearms and dozens of rounds of ammunition. A video of the dramatic arrest shortly went viral, capturing the accused loudly pleading for his life as closely armed officers closed in.

The sentence handed down follows a protracted trial that spanned a number of months. In delivering the ruling, the choose described Simms’ actions as a grave risk to public security, particularly given the size of the arsenal recovered and his gang affiliation.

The sentencing is being hailed as a significant breakthrough within the Jamaica Constabulary Drive’s ongoing crackdown on unlawful weapons trafficking. Over the previous 5 years, the JCF has intensified its islandwide marketing campaign in response to Jamaica’s staggeringly excessive murder fee, the place nearly all of killings contain unlawful firearms.

Simms will probably be eligible for parole after serving 25 years.
