Grand Cayman — The excessive seas acquired even hotter this week because the Cayman Islands Coast Guard (CICG) reeled in a large drug haul — 1,500 kilos of marijuana — from a suspicious canoe intercepted in native waters early Thursday morning.

Performing on what appeared to be illicit maritime exercise, eagle-eyed CICG officers, backed up by the police helicopter, swooped in on the vessel, which had 4 males aboard.

The suspected traffickers, who reportedly tried to outrun the authorities, had been no match for the CICG’s swift response. The lads had been rapidly detained and slapped with expenses together with unlawful entry, possession of managed medication, and importation of managed medication.

The seized vessel and the hefty stash of ganja had been turned over to the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) for additional investigation, as authorities proceed their crackdown on drug smuggling operations throughout the area.

    Police investigations are ongoing.
