    Assailant pleads guilty in shooting that left cheerleader paralyzed

    A person who opened fireplace outdoors a celebration in Talmadge and shot a teen bystander leaving her paralyzed has pleaded responsible within the two-year-old case.

    Juan Diaz Velazco, 21, is ready to be sentenced later to 24 years in state jail for tried homicide and assault with a semiautomatic firearm inflicting paralysis.

    San Diego police stated gunfire broke out within the early-morning hours of Oct. 28, 2023 amid a battle between two teams of individuals on Winona Avenue.

    In keeping with the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office, the taking pictures occurred after “gang members issued gang challenges to rivals outdoors of a highschool celebration. Diaz Velazco fired the primary pictures which hit and paralyzed an harmless lady, who was a highschool cheerleader.”

    Prosecutors stated the gunshots fired by the defendant, who was 19 on the time, struck Brianna Wallace within the again. Wallace, then a Lincoln Excessive College pupil, was paralyzed from the waist down consequently.
