    Five Men Charged After Drug Bust at Bowden Wharf in St Thomas

    5 males have been charged beneath the Harmful Medicine Act after authorities seized roughly 1,832 kilos of compressed ganja on the Bowden Wharf in St Thomas throughout a December 20 operation.

    The operation was a coordinated effort between the Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division (FNID) and the Jamaica Defence Power Coast Guard.

    The accused males are:

    • Moses Pitt, 48

    • Rusheyne Drummonds, 22

    • Preston Stephens, 38

    • Andre Barracks, 38

    • Anthonio Pitt, 50

    In accordance with the Jamaica Constabulary Power’s Company Communications Unit, members of the Coast Guard intercepted a canoe carrying the lads close to Bowden Wharf. Upon inspection, a number of baggage containing the contraband had been reportedly discovered of their possession.

    The boys had been charged with a number of offenses, together with:

    • Possession of ganja

    • Dealing in ganja

    • Trafficking ganja

    • Taking steps preparatory to export ganja

    • Conspiracy to site visitors ganja

    The accused appeared earlier than the St Thomas Parish Courtroom on Friday, the place they had been remanded in custody. They’re scheduled to reappear in court docket on January 28.

    Senior Superintendent of Police Samuel Blake, who heads the FNID, praised the collaborative efforts of the businesses concerned. “The joint efforts of the FNID and the Jamaica Defence Power Coast Guard show the dedication of Jamaican legislation enforcement businesses to fight drug trafficking and associated crimes,” he acknowledged.

    Blake additional emphasised that the FNID will proceed working with each native and worldwide companions to determine and prosecute these concerned in drug and gun trafficking.
