    Port Antonio Celebrates Back-to-Back Cruise Ship Arrivals After Decades

    PORT ANTONIO, PORTLAND: The resort city of Port Antonio buzzed with pleasure on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, after receiving back-to-back cruise vessels, offering a much-needed enhance to native companies.

    The arrival of the Insignia and Seven Seas Navigator on December twenty fourth and twenty fifth was a big occasion, marking the primary time in over 20 years that Port Antonio had welcomed consecutive cruise ships.

    Veteran craft vendor, Cathlene Henry, expressed her enthusiasm, noting that this presents a priceless alternative for craft distributors and JUTA (Jamaica Union of Vacationers Affiliation) operators to earn a residing. She reminisced in regards to the heyday of cruise tourism in Port Antonio throughout the Seventies, 80s, and 90s, when a number of ships would dock day by day.

    East Portland Member of Parliament, Annmarie Vaz, met with distributors and JUTA members to evaluate their experiences. She emphasised that the arrival of the 2 cruise ships had a constructive impression on your entire tourism business in and round Port Antonio, benefiting companies and the local people.

    Vaz highlighted {that a} cruise ship is scheduled to go to Port Antonio on February twenty sixth and March tenth. She expressed her dedication to lobbying for elevated cruise ship arrivals in Port Antonio, guaranteeing that the city receives its fair proportion of the tourism pie.

    The Insignia docked on December twenty fourth with 607 passengers and 99 crew members, adopted by Seven Seas Navigator on Christmas Day with 459 passengers and 379 crew members. Passengers explored varied points of interest, together with the Folly Ruins, Attain Falls, Port Antonio Craft Village, Boston Jerk Centre, and Winnifred Seaside.
