    Labour and Social Security Ministry has disbursed more than $2B to Jamaicans affected by Hurricane Melissa

    The Ministry of Labour and Social Safety has disbursed greater than $2 billion to Jamaicans affected by Hurricane Melissa, with over 2000 Westmoreland residents receiving over $700 million within the newest spherical of funds below the Restoration of Proprietor or Occupant Household Shelter (ROOFS) Programme.

    Throughout Thursday’s grant handover ceremony in Savanna-la-Mar, Portfolio Minister Pearnel Charles JR. outlined the allocations.

    The help is structured throughout three harm classes: minor, main, and extreme to make sure fairness and responsiveness to the extent of loss skilled by every family.

    This second batch of funds follows the Authorities’s preliminary handover ceremony in St. Elizabeth on January 30 and underscores the ministry’s continued dedication to restoring protected, safe housing and accelerating restoration for households affected by Hurricane Melissa.

    The parish-by-parish rollout, continues subsequent week in Hanover, St. James, Trelawny and St. Ann.
