    ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — Two members of the Jamaica Constabulary Pressure have been convicted of soliciting and accepting a bribe and at the moment are awaiting sentencing within the St Catherine Parish Courtroom.

    Constables Marlon Hamilton and Romaine Boothe have been discovered responsible throughout proceedings held on Tuesday. The court docket prolonged their bail within the sum of $650,000 every till April 9, when sentencing is scheduled.

    Proof offered outlined that on August 13, 2023, each officers have been on responsibility alongside the Nelson Mandela Freeway after they reportedly noticed a motorized vehicle being towed. The complainant was allegedly approached and requested to pay $3,000, which was handed over.

    The incident was subsequently reported to the Inspectorate of Skilled Requirements Oversight Bureau. An investigation was launched, resulting in the charging of the 2 constables, who have been assigned to the St Catherine South Division.

    Sentencing is anticipated to happen subsequent month.
