    JHTA defers comment on proposed tax increase on tourism activities until after talks with Government; meeting coming soon

    The Jamaica Lodge and Vacationer Affiliation (JHTA) has deferred touch upon the proposed improve within the Common Consumption Tax (GCT) on tourism actions till after discussions with the Authorities.

    The proposal was outlined within the income measures tabled in Parliament by Finance Minister, Fayval Williams, on Thursday.

    It famous that beginning April 1, 2027, folks providing tourism actions shall be charged a GCT charge of 15 per cent.

    That is 5 per cent greater than the present cost.

    Mrs. Williams defined that implementation of the income measure can be delayed till the following fiscal 12 months, as a result of the Authorities recognises that the tourism sector remains to be recovering from Hurricane Melissa.
