    Gov’t begins disbursement of financial aid to Jamaicans whose homes were damaged or destroyed by Hurricane Melissa

    The Authorities has begun the disbursement of monetary help to Jamaicans whose houses had been broken or destroyed by Hurricane Melissa, marking a big step within the nation’s shelter restoration, and nationwide reconstruction efforts.

    Underneath the Restoration of Proprietor or Occupant Household Shelters (ROOFS) Programme, funds for extreme injury valued at as much as $500,000 have formally commenced.

    Talking at a handing over ceremony, on the Social Safety Ministry’s, Santa Cruz Workplace in St. Elizabeth at this time, Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness stated 50 beneficiaries have acquired help by the ministry’s digital voucher modality.

    Dr. Holness added that 1,234 households, primarily senior residents have acquired their disbursements by direct deposit.

    An extra 20 Jamaicans are scheduled to obtain pay as you go playing cards with their disbursements at this time.

    With all cost modalities now activated, the Authorities says it’s absolutely ready to roll out help throughout all injury classes.

    These embody assist for minor injury of $75,000, main injury of $200,000, and extreme injury of as much as $500,000, permitting affected households to start repairs and rebuilding immediately.
