    Leptospirosis related deaths increase to 7

    The variety of leptospirosis associated deaths has elevated.

    The Well being Ministry says there have been 12 deaths, 7 of which have been confirmed as leptospirosis-related.

    In a press release this morning, the well being ministry says the nation now has on file, 71 suspected, possible or confirmed instances of leptospirosis after the passage of Hurricane Melissa.

    Of that quantity, 26 are confirmed instances.

    The ministry says its persevering with its administration of the illness, throughout the island and is giving particular consideration to St. James with 15 instances, St. Ann with 12 and St. Elizabeth 8.

    The general public is reminded that leptospirosis is preventable, treatable, and survivable, if detected early and brought critically.
