ST JAMES, Jamaica — Authorities have imposed a 48-hour police curfew within the Salt Spring group as they transfer to curb a latest spike in gang-related violence.

A police supply advised McKoy’s Information that the choice follows a string of violent incidents, together with a double homicide simply over two weeks in the past and subsequent shootings which have left residents residing in concern, compounded by the challenges brought on by Hurricane Melissa.

On Monday, 21-year-old Jodane James, also called “Sizzla” of Salt Spring, was fatally shot in an alleged confrontation with police. Reviews point out officers have been executing a warrant when James reportedly brandished a firearm, prompting them to open fireplace. He later succumbed to his accidents at a hospital.

The curfew, which started Tuesday, December 2, at 6:00 p.m., will stay in impact till Thursday, December 4, at 6:00 p.m., as police proceed operations to revive order within the troubled group.

Authorities say they’re decided to reign in gang violence and reassure residents that public security stays their precedence.
