    Jamaica Receives Large Shipment of Relief Supplies – Jamaica Information Service

    The Authorities of Jamaica, on Tuesday (November 4), obtained a big cargo of hurricane reduction provides from a number of of the island’s worldwide companions.

    The cargo of 15 containers with greater than 150 tonnes of reduction materials and gear, arrived aboard the Dutch Navy help ship, HNLMS Pelikaan, from its base in Curaçao.

    Included have been medical and well being provides, emergency shelter supplies, energy and electrical gear, autos, forklifts and different transport belongings in addition to communication instruments and water sanitation gear to help Jamaican communities affected by the catastrophe.

    Minister of International Affairs and International Commerce, Senator the Hon. Kamina Johnson Smith, who was on the Kingston Freeport Container Terminal to obtain the cargo, expressed delight and gratitude for the contribution from the “true associates of Jamaica”.

    “It’s instances like these… in instances of hassle, you understand who your true associates are, however the reality is, you’re all associates who’re with us even when we’re not in instances of hassle, as a result of we associate collectively in good and in dangerous,” she identified.

    “The supply of help is one step within the reduction, emergency response [and] restoration. This might be an arduous process however the humanitarian help, which is right here, will positively influence the lives of households affected,” she famous.

    Senator Johnson Smith stated that the supply of reduction has been a problem particularly within the considerably affected communities, as some roads have nonetheless not been cleared.

    Ship captain, Lieutenant Commander Max Borsboom, stated that the cargo contains two pickup vehicles from the World Meals Programme, which can allow responders to get into hard-to-reach communities.
