A 33-year-old truck driver from Mount Zion in Rock River, Clarendon, has been charged after police intercepted his car in Morant Bay, St Thomas, on Wednesday evening.

The Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division (FNID), supported by the St Thomas police, stopped the truck on Church Road round 10:33 p.m. A search of the car uncovered over 150 parcels of compressed ganja, totaling greater than 1,500 kilos, together with over $180,000 in money. The estimated avenue worth of the ganja is roughly $4.7 million.

The driving force, Fabian Watson, now faces a number of prices below the Harmful Medication Act, together with possession, dealing, trafficking, taking steps preparatory to export ganja, possession of legal property, and conspiracy. Police say these prices are a part of ongoing operations to dismantle drug trafficking networks and their monetary operations.

Performing Senior Superintendent Patrae Rowe highlighted the importance of those interventions in preventing broader legal exercise related to drug trafficking. Authorities proceed to induce the general public to report unlawful firearms and narcotics by FNID, the Nationwide Intelligence Bureau, Crime Cease, the police emergency quantity, or the closest police station.
