Reward provided in seasons of consolation comes naturally, however reward given within the midst of ache is described in Scripture as a sacrifice (Hebrews 13:15). The author of Hebrews reminds believers that reward is an providing to God, a continuing acknowledgment of His title. In painful seasons, reward prices one thing; it requires religion that God continues to be worthy even when circumstances are heavy. Such reward rises like incense earlier than Him, valuable and highly effective in its authenticity.

All through Scripture, we see examples of sacrificial reward. David praised God whereas pursued by enemies, writing psalms that declared God’s faithfulness regardless of his fears. Habakkuk, although surrounded by famine and despair, confessed: “But I’ll rejoice within the Lord; I’ll take pleasure within the God of my salvation” (Habakkuk 3:18). These examples present that sacrificial reward is rooted not in circumstances however within the unchanging nature of God. The Standard New Testomony Commentary places it this fashion: “Reward, steady reward, is the becoming recognition of an abiding Saviour and an endless salvation.”

When believers reward God in ache, their religion is strengthened. Blogger Mark Cole writes, “The ache doesn’t disappear, however the perspective adjustments. God continues to be holy. God continues to be reigning. And God continues to be worthy of reward—even within the darkest hour.” Sacrificial reward shifts focus from the burden to the One who carries it. It proclaims that He’s higher than sorrow and worthy of worship no matter consequence. Such reward will not be a denial of actuality, however an acknowledgment of a better actuality – that God reigns, even in struggling.

Providing God the sacrifice of reward in painful instances glorifies Him and brings peace to the center. Cole continues: “Reward lifts our eyes. It reminds us that it doesn’t matter what we face, God hasn’t stepped off His throne. Our worship pulls us out of despair and anchors us in His sovereignty.” Reward as a sacrifice is an act of belief that His goodness is larger than our grief, and that His guarantees stand agency even when life doesn’t.
