    Mayor of Spanish Town Faces Charges After Election Day Altercation in St Elizabeth

    Spanish City, Jamaica – Norman Scott, Mayor of Spanish City, is dealing with felony costs following an alleged altercation on election day in South East St Elizabeth.

    Scott has been charged with assault occasioning precise bodily hurt and malicious destruction of property. A summons for the offences was served on him at 11:00 am Friday, police sources confirmed.

    In accordance with regulation enforcement in St Elizabeth, the investigation stems from allegations made by Julie Holness-Francis, a resident and election day employee on September 3.

    Police studies point out that after noon on election day, Scott visited polling stations at BB Coke Excessive College, reportedly overstaying the permitted time set by the Electoral Workplace of Jamaica. Brokers on the location tried to remind him of the regulation, however Scott reportedly continued his visits, inflicting a commotion.

    Holness-Francis, who was serving as an indoor agent, approached Scott and knowledgeable him of the overstay. In an effort to sign the gang to calm down, she raised her hand. It’s alleged that Scott struck her on the appropriate facet of her face, inflicting swelling and harm to her glasses.

    The mayor denies the allegations, police stated.

    Scott is scheduled to seem earlier than the Santa Cruz Parish Court docket at 10:00 am on Monday, October 13 to reply the fees.
