One particular person was killed and one other injured when a small aircraft crashed in Little Cottonwood Canyon on Sunday.

The aircraft crashed within the Albion Basin space, a bit over a mile east of the city of Alta, round 5:21 p.m. Sunday, Hannah Gorski, communications director for the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Workplace, informed reporters Sunday evening.

Two folks had been within the aircraft when it crashed, Gorski mentioned. One was lifeless on the scene; the opposite was flown by medical helicopter to the College of Utah Hospital, the place they had been in crucial situation as of Sunday, Gorski mentioned.

The identities of the 2 folks weren’t launched, nor was any details about the aircraft’s itinerary instantly out there, Gorski mentioned.

The sheriff’s workplace was working with Alta city marshals and Unified Police to safe the placement, Gorski mentioned. Investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration and the Nationwide Transportation Security Board had been anticipated to reach Monday to scope out the crash website, she mentioned.
