MANCHESTER, Jamaica — A Manchester farmer who was on the run for over a 12 months after allegedly being caught with $1 million value of cocaine has lastly confronted the courts — and walked out on bail.

Forty-eight-year-old George McKenzie was granted bail within the Manchester Parish Courtroom on Wednesday, after turning himself in to police final month.

Reviews are that McKenzie had been needed since June 19, 2024, when he was allegedly intercepted by lawmen in Center Quarters, St Elizabeth, throughout a focused police operation.

Sources say he was driving a Honda motorized vehicle when cops made the bust. A secret compartment was discovered contained in the automotive — and what was inside? Cocaine, mentioned to be valued at a whopping $1 million on the road.

However McKenzie wasn’t sticking round. It’s alleged he fled the scene, sparking a manhunt and inserting him on the police’s most needed checklist.

After greater than a 12 months on the run, McKenzie surrendered to police in July 2025.

His authorized staff, King’s Counsel Peter Champagnie and Patrice Riley, argued that their shopper was afraid and that the car wasn’t even his — it had been not too long ago loaned to another person, they claimed.

The choose granted bail within the sum of $1 million, with strict reporting circumstances.

    Police investigations proceed.
