Mandeville, Jamaica – The Jamaica City Transit Firm (JUTC) is rolling out a brand-new categorical route connecting Mandeville to downtown Kingston, set to launch this Monday, July 28 — and commuters are buzzing.

Dubbed Route 512, the brand new line is a significant transfer by the state-run bus firm to open up reasonably priced, long-distance journey between Manchester and the capital.

Beginning Monday, commuters can board JUTC buses thrice day by day in both course, providing dependable service for college kids, staff, and market-goers making an attempt to keep away from the effort and value of personal taxis or a number of transfers.

    🚌 Departure Instances:

    • From Mandeville: 5:45 AM, 10:00 AM, 3:10 PM
    • From Downtown Kingston: 7:55 AM, 1:00 PM, 5:20 PM

    💳 SmartFare Pricing:

    • Adults: $500 JMD one-way
    • Concession (college students/seniors/disabled): $250 JMD
    • Money fare for all: $600 JMD

Every bus will maintain 53 seated passengers, with standing room at 50% capability, and rides can be based mostly on a first-come, first-served foundation. No reservations—simply line up and journey out.

Commuters in Mandeville also can go to Cecil Charlton Park between 7:00 AM and three:00 PM on launch day, the place JUTC reps can be readily available for SmartFare card sign-ups and top-ups.

Minister of Transport Daryl Vaz described the brand new service as a “game-changer for rural mobility”, whereas JUTC’s Comms Supervisor Shantole Thompson added that this marks a significant enlargement of service into underserved long-distance routes.

With rising gasoline costs and security issues on casual transport, the launch of Route 512 may sign a brand new period of safe, reasonably priced, and government-backed commuting for south-central Jamaica.
