    Government to End JPS License in 2027, Eyes New Energy Providers

    Kingston, Jamaica — The Authorities of Jamaica has introduced that it’s going to not renew the license of the Jamaica Public Service Firm (JPS) when it expires on July 8, 2027.

    The announcement was made Monday by Minister of Power Daryl Vaz throughout a press convention, signalling a serious shift within the nation’s vitality sector.

    Vaz, who has been beneath stress in latest months to behave decisively on the matter, assured the general public that there will probably be no disruption in electrical energy provide because of the federal government’s resolution.

    No Authorities Takeover

    New Negotiations Forward

    The Authorities of Jamaica at present owns a 19% stake in JPS. The remaining shares are held by Marubeni Company of Japan and Korea East-West Energy Firm, every with 40%.
