St Catherine, Jamaica – A person who pleaded responsible to evading a toll price and stealing a tag from a plaza sales space has been slapped with fines totaling greater than $100,000 by the St Catherine Parish Court docket.

The accused, Dwaine Williamson, driver of a Toyota Probox, was fined:

    • $10,000 or 5 days for toll evasion

    • $4,000 or three days for possession of an offensive weapon

    • $100,000 or 30 days for easy larceny

The sentence was handed down on Tuesday by Appearing Senior Parish Court docket Choose Janelle Nelson-Gayle.

Williamson was unrepresented in court docket.

In line with police stories, on June 5, a lawman touring alongside the freeway close to Caymanas noticed Williamson’s car bypass the toll with out cost. He then reportedly stopped, stole a toll tag, and sped off.

A close-by checkpoint was alerted, and Williamson was intercepted shortly after. Police say they recovered the stolen toll tag and located a machete beneath the motive force’s seat.

He was taken into custody and later charged with easy larceny, toll evasion, and possession of an offensive weapon.

    Investigations are ongoing.
