    University of the Commonwealth Caribbean launches first doctoral degrees – Jamaica Inquirer

    The College of the Commonwealth Caribbean (UCC) has launched two doctoral levels, the Physician of Enterprise Administration (DBA) and Physician of Skilled Apply (DPP).

    Minister of Labour and Social Safety, Pearnel Charles Jr hailed the introduction of the new doctoral choices, noting that they may play a pivotal position in shaping Jamaica’s labour market and financial system by retaining top-tier expertise, driving innovation and boosting productiveness throughout sectors.

    “We’ve to proceed to foster innovation, to empower our individuals. And once more, I wish to say, an enormous, huge congratulations to UCC, and a full endorsement from the Ministry of Labour and Social Safety,” Minister Charles declared. “The truth is, if we’re going to equip our individuals to correctly outline the options which can be going to help this nation and push this nation, be the  wind beneath our wings, then superior studying, increased studying is crucial. And so we on the Ministry endorse it as a result of we prioritize training and abilities improvement as a method of making certain Jamaica is globally aggressive.”

    UCC’s President, Professor Colin Gyles, highlighted the importance of the launch, noting that it comes on the heels of UCC’s re-accreditation by the UK-based Accreditation Service for Worldwide Faculties and Universities (ASIC) and its recognition as a College by the College Council of Jamaica (UCJ) and the Jamaica Tertiary Schooling Fee (JTEC).

    “Being re-accredited by ASIC and reaching College standing recognition from the UCJ are highly effective validations of our governance, our dedication to innovation, and our pursuit of world-class educational high quality,” stated Professor Gyles. “These recognitions mirror the calibre of our school, the resilience of our college students, and the energy of our strategic imaginative and prescient.” He added, “These doctoral programmes mirror the course through which UCC is rising — towards deeper analysis, extra superior scholarship, and broader nationwide relevance. They may serve Jamaica and the Caribbean by cultivating the following era of leaders in enterprise, governance, well being, {and professional} observe.”

    Designed for mid- to senior-level professionals, the DBA and DPP programmes provide versatile, part-time constructions starting from three to seven years. They embody structured help workshops, supervisory mentorship, and unbiased analysis aimed toward producing transformational, real-world outcomes throughout industries.

    With 5 bodily campuses throughout Jamaica and a strong on-line studying platform, UCC stated it continues to place itself to set the benchmark for accessible, future-ready training.

    Functions for the DBA and DPP programmes at the moment are open, with lessons scheduled to start in October 2025.
