    CARICOM team arrives in Suriname to observe May 25 election – Jamaica Inquirer

    Election

    The CARICOM Secretariat has deployed a nine-member group to watch the Elections within the Republic of Suriname.

    The group was invited by the Authorities of Suriname to watch the conduct of Normal Elections to be held on 25 Could 2025.
     
    Heads of Authorities of the Caribbean Group (CARICOM) have dedicated to supporting Member States, on their request, by offering an impartial, neutral and trustworthy evaluation of the preparations for and conduct of Normal Elections.
     
    The CARICOM Election Commentary Mission (CEOM) is headed by  Dora James, Supervisor of Elections, St Vincent and the Grenadines. Different members of the group are:

    • Alrick Daniel, Member of the Electoral Fee of Antigua and Barbuda;
    • Harrison Thompson, Parliamentary Commissioner of The Bahamas;
    • Debra Patricia Hughes, Member of the Electoral and Boundaries Fee of Barbados;
    • Clement Rohee, Commissioner, Guyana Elections Fee;
    • Rose Therese Georges, Counsellor within the Electoral Workplace of Haiti;
    • Herman St. Helen, Chief Elections Officer of the Electoral Division of Saint Lucia;
    • Brendalyn Henry, Regional Supervisor, Electoral Workplace of Jamaica; and
    • Lena Champa Sahadeo, Deputy Chief Election Officer of Trinidad and Tobago.

    The CEOM is supported by three (3) members of the CARICOM Secretariat:
     
    (i)         Shae-Alicia Lewis, Programme Supervisor, Group Relations;
    (ii)        David Allens, Mission Officer, International and Group Relations; and
    (iii)       Denise Morgan, Stenographer II, International and Group Relations.
     
    The core group, comprising the Chief of Mission and the CARICOM Secretariat assist workers, arrived in Suriname on Monday, 19 Could 2025 whereas the remaining members of the Mission will arrive in Suriname between  Could 21 and 22 .
     
    The group has met with His Excellency Albert Ramdin, Minister of International Affairs, Worldwide Enterprise and Worldwide Cooperation. The group has additionally had the chance to familiarise itself with among the safety measures in place to make sure the protection of the elections by way of a go to to the Command Centre.   

    Following the arrival press convention this afternoon, conferences have been additionally held with representatives of varied political events.
