MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica – Opposition Spokesperson on Housing and Sustainable Residing, Professor Floyd Morris, is asking on Prime Minister Andrew Holness to instantly interact with affected owners in Montego West Village, St James, who stand to lose vital parts of their property because of the Montego Bay Perimeter Highway Challenge.

In line with Morris, 16 owners are susceptible to displacement or substantial encroachment, following current communications from the Ministry of Financial Progress and Job Creation—an entity beneath the Prime Minister’s portfolio. The notices reportedly point out that properties, initially developed by Gore Improvement Ltd and financed by the Nationwide Housing Belief (NHT), are prone to be impacted by the infrastructure undertaking.

“These people have subsequently seen surveys accomplished that can lead to substantial reductions of the scale of their properties,” mentioned Morris. “The lack of worth that these owners will endure is important.”

Morris criticized Prime Minister Holness for what he described as an absence of responsiveness, accusing him of ignoring repeated appeals from the affected residents.

“Whereas the owners have been making strenuous efforts to hunt justice, Holness, who’s the minister with direct accountability for this example, has not seen it match to answer their plight,” Morris said. “It is a reprehensible and unacceptable failure on his half. The individuals of Montego West Village deserve justice and equity on this matter.”

The Montego Bay Perimeter Highway Challenge, a significant infrastructure improvement geared toward easing site visitors congestion within the metropolis, has confronted mounting concern from neighborhood members and advocacy teams relating to its social and environmental affect.

Up to now, no official response has been issued by the Workplace of the Prime Minister or the Ministry of Financial Progress and Job Creation
