    Powerful Group of Western Jamaica Women Launched – Jamaica Information Service

    A sisterhood of achieved ladies dubbed ‘Ladies of Western Jamaica (WOWJa)’ has been established to work collectively to construct pipelines of energy and success and drive transformation within the western area.

    The motion brings collectively a sorority of girls executives, entrepreneurs, educators, and influential leaders in numerous fields spanning the private and non-private sectors, who’re dedicated to fostering collaboration, mentorship, and financial progress.

    Founder and Chair of WOWJa, Janet Silvera, made a stirring name for unity and motion amongst members who’ve pledged to rejoice and elevate the voices, achievements, and management of girls in all spheres of society all through western Jamaica.

    “The ladies of WOWJa are usually not solely simply movers and shakers in their very own proper, however ladies who care and who know the ability of lifting (others up) as they climb. Ladies who perceive that if one among us wins, then all of us win,” Ms. Silvera stated on the launch held on the Montego Bay Conference Centre in St. James on Thursday (April 24).

    She famous that WOWJa’s formation was 15 years within the making. It stemmed from a need to see ladies in western Jamaica cooperate extra deliberately to barter offers and refer shoppers to one another and set up profitable channels for mutual progress, she stated.

    “Actual energy lies in what it’s we’ll accomplish as a bunch. We’re constructing a motion…So, WOWJa isn’t simply its title; it’s an announcement and declaration that claims right here we’re. We’re prepared and we’re about to shake issues up in the absolute best means,” Ms. Silvera declared.

    Minister of Authorized and Constitutional Affairs, Hon. Marlene Malahoo Forte, in her remarks, welcomed the launch of WOWJa and pledged her assist.

    She urged the members to be sort to themselves as they empower others and unite in driving change for ladies within the west.

    “I imagine that the ladies of this nation have a really particular position to play in a means that it has not been performed earlier than. So, I’m relying on you [WOWJa] as actual energy lies in what we are able to do collectively,” the Minister underscored.

    Chief Government Officer (CEO) of Sagicor Financial institution, Chorvelle Johnson Cunningham who was the visitor speaker, charged the ladies of WOWJa to empower, study from and assist one another.
