    Special Focus on Autism April 2 – Jamaica Information Service

    On April 2, the Ministry of Labour and Social Safety, by means of its Early Stimulation Programme (ESP), will be a part of the worldwide group in observing World Autism Day.

    To lift consciousness, the ESP will host an Autism Symposium on the Jamaica Convention Centre, downtown Kingston, on Wednesday, April 2, specializing in selling inclusion, elevating public consciousness, celebrating the skills of individuals with disabilities (PWDs), and emphasising the significance of early prognosis and intervention at showcasing the distinctive abilities of those exceptional youngsters.

    “This symposium is not only an occasion; it’s a motion to alter perceptions. We wish everybody, particularly future educators, to grasp that these youngsters can attain their highest potential with the proper help and alternatives,” Director of the ESP within the Ministry of Labour and Social Safety (MLSS), Antonica Gunter Gayle, instructed JIS Information in an interview.

    “Our youngsters with disabilities are youngsters first; subsequently, they should be included in all spheres of society,” she emphasised.

    This 12 months’s theme, ‘Celebrating Neurodiversity: Selling Inclusion’, centres across the significance of inclusion, respect, and celebration of kids with disabilities.
