    Minister Johnson Smith Hails Female Trailblasers – Jamaica Information Service

    Scores of Jamaican ladies, who’re pioneers of their fields, have been hailed by Overseas Affairs and Overseas Commerce Minister, Hon. Kamina Johnson Smith, for driving
    significant change within the society.

    The ladies, who’re concerned enterprise, politics, leisure, academia, media amongst different areas, had been celebrated at a latest Worldwide Ladies’s Day (IWD) occasion held on the Jamaica Pegasus Resort in New Kingston.

    Senator Johnson Smith, who was honoured for being the primary lady to move the Overseas Ministry, stated that her profession in politics has provided her a robust platform to alter issues for the higher.

    Congratulating the honourees, she stated they mirrored the scope of service to Jamaica, and they need to be celebrated.

    Talking on the IWD theme: ‘Speed up Motion for ALL Ladies and Ladies: Rights. Equality. Empowerment,’ she famous that as ladies “we speed up motion by striving to be our greatest selves each day.”

    “Proceed to serve, proceed to speed up motion, proceed to be nice, proceed to be a Jamaican lady excellence,” she urged.

    She hailed the Bureau of Gender Affairs (BGA) for organising the IWD occasion to recognise the feminine trailblasers.

    “We should proceed to rejoice the primary, whilst we search for the day when there are not any extra firsts, however till then, we rejoice them, we acknowledge them, and we recognise the ability that we manifest as we transfer ahead collectively,” she stated.

    For her half, Principal Director within the Ministry of Tradition, Gender, Leisure and Sport, Sharon Coburn Robinson, who was additionally honoured, famous that the occasion not solely recognised excellent ladies “however these we name unsung heroines, ladies working quietly and steadily within the background.”
