    CARICOM welcomes Trinidad’s new prime minister, Stuart Young – Jamaica Inquirer

    The Caribbean Group has issued congratulations to Trinidad and Tobago’s newly appointed Prime Minister, Stuart Younger.

    In a statement, CARICOM chairman and Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley welcomed Younger, following a swearing-in ceremony by President of Trinidad and Tobago Christine Kangaloo, on the President’s home in Port of Spain on Monday morning. 

    “As Chairman of CARICOM and Prime Minister of Barbados, I supply heartfelt congratulations to the Honourable Stuart Younger on his set up because the Eighth Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago .

    “I additionally warmly welcome him to the Convention of CARICOM Heads of Authorities. We sit up for the continued strong participation of Trinidad and Tobago in shaping and executing CARICOM’s response to present and rising world affairs, together with Power and Safety (Medicine and Illicit Arms), for which Prime Minister Younger may have lead duty within the CARICOM Quasi-cabinet.”

    “CARICOM commits its full help because the Prime Minister and his authorities proceed to chart a steady, safe and affluent future for the individuals of Trinidad and Tobago and the Area.”

    Younger, who additionally serves as Minister of Power and Power Industries, succeeds outgoing prime minister and chief of the present ruling social gathering, the Folks’s Nationwide Motion (PNM), Dr Keith Rowley, who resigned on March 16, 2025. 

    Dr Rowley indicated his intention to additionally resign as chief of the PNM “on the earliest”, following a session with the social gathering’s management.
