St. James, Jamaica — A 72-year-old retiree, Junior Malcolm, has been charged with arson after allegedly setting a home on fireplace within the Hill View group of Pitfour.

Experiences from the Granville Police point out that round 12:00 p.m. on Monday, October 13, residents witnessed Malcolm setting fireplace to a two-storey home. Emergency responders, together with the Jamaica Hearth Brigade, had been referred to as to the scene and efficiently extinguished the blaze.

The fireplace brought about vital injury to the second flooring of the home, with losses estimated at roughly $10 million.

Malcolm was arrested on the scene later that day, after being recognized by witnesses, and was taken into police custody. He was formally charged on Wednesday, October 15, following an interview within the presence of his lawyer.

His court docket date is at the moment being finalised as investigations proceed.
