A 23-year-old inmate has been charged with homicide following the deadly stabbing of one other prisoner on the Annotto Bay Police Station lock-up in St Mary.
The accused has been recognized as Nolando Atkinson, a development employee of Boscobel View, St Mary. He was charged on Monday in relation to the demise of 34-year-old Eraldo Francis, a contractor of Tremolsworth, Highgate, within the parish.
Based on stories from the Port Maria Police, shortly after noon on Saturday, December 6, a disturbance broke out amongst inmates housed on the lock-up. Police intervened to revive order, and through checks of the ability, Francis was discovered unresponsive with stab wounds to the chest.
He was rushed to hospital, the place he was later pronounced lifeless.
An investigation was subsequently launched, and Atkinson was later implicated primarily based on statements gathered by investigators. He was formally charged with homicide following a question-and-answer interview performed on Sunday.
